Vintage Birks Sterling Silver Pedestal Jewelry Box

This gorgeous, round and detailed jewelry box features 3 claw feet with large leaf attachments to a rounded, larger trinket box style. The top of the box has lines and decorative swag around the central engraving for "Gladys". Hinge and seal work wonderfully for a seamless opening and closing and the interior blue velvet is in good vintage condition with slots for 5 rings and an open section for other items.

The bottom of the jewelry box is marked BIRKS STERLING and then hallmarked with other stamps that have not yet been identified. The central one is similar to the lion passant from Britain but not exact and the date letter is an E but the city mark unknown so dating using this system is difficult.

Item has not been polished although it has been wiped down. Leaving polishing to the purchaser to determine what level of patina they would prefer.

Measurements:

Hinge to thumb hold on the top is 3.82 inches. Box diameter is approx 3.5 inches. Height is approx 2 inches but hard to be exact due to rounded top.
