Antique Black Onyx Mourning Brooch with Gold Buckle In Memoriam front and Hair Locket Reverse

Lovely and solidly built, this stunning example of mourning jewelry is a smooth black onyx with a low karat gold buckle to the front with black enamel lettering spelling IN MEMORIAM.
On the reverse, behind a crystal or glass cover, are two locks of hair.

Pin has C-clasp and tube hinge in good working order and ready to wear. Black onyx is in good condition but there is some wear to the enamel lettering on the front.

Hair could be removed if buyer prefers but it’s a lovely sentimental piece as is.

Brooch measures approx 1.6 x 1.1 inches. Total weight is a solid 15.6g.
