These fantastic antique earrings were likely cuff links or buttons in their original life, but have been converted in antiquity to stud earrings.
The front of the earrings features a small seed pearl cluster in the shape of a bunch of grapes with detailed gold grape leaves on top. These are set on a base of black onyx stone and surrounded by gold detail work in a cannetile style. The grapes are bolted through the onyx and secure, but they do move slightly.
There are no hallmarks but earrings have been tested for 19-20k on the front. The ear nuts are 14k but not original to the piece (we received the earrings without backings for the posts). Posts are unknown metal and untested. Jeweler reviewed posts for security and found them tight and not requiring changing.
The back of the earrings are not as pretty as the front, but these are not visible when worn. Where the plate at the back is attached, there is some missing detailing on the side of the earring, but this is hard to see unless looking directly at it.
Earrings have a diameter of approx 17mm. Total weight for both earrings is approx 4.93g.
