This unique and charming ring features a dainty, sparkling horseshoe in yellow gold. Featuring a blue sapphire triangle at the base of the horseshoe, small diamonds fill up the remainder of the horseshoe.
The horseshoe was a symbol for good luck and good fortune in the Victorian era, with the open end always facing up to catch the good luck. If you are looking for a little good luck charm for you or someone else, this is a fantastic find.
Era: Victorian. Date stamped for 1862 Birmingham and made by Samuel Haines (hallmarked)
Markings: 22CT for 22k
Stone: One blue sapphire (electronically tested) measuring approx. 1.2mm high and 1.7mm at the base. There are 6 diamonds (electronically tested) measuring approx 1.4mm each.
Metal: 22ct yellow gold with likely silver topped design where the stones are placed (untested)
Size: Sized at just over 7.5, this ring would be sizable. Total weight is 2.65g.
Condition: This is an antique ring and does have some condition notes. The stones do not appear to have obvious chips under loupe magnification, but 2 of the supports to the top of the horseshoe are cracked at the shoulder sides, where the gold tapers down thinly. The top is fully secured, however, by three other sturdy connections.
This item is used/antique so it has been previously loved. As such, it will show the normal signs of wear in the form of scuffs to the surface or wearing of details. Any obvious issues will be expressly detailed but none of our jewellery will be in perfect showroom condition due to it being vintage of antique.
