This little beauty has it all - age, history, gold and diamonds.
Although a sparkly wonder on the hand, these chunky old cut diamonds aren’t perfect. Each one has carbon deposits that create a darkened illusion in different lights, almost a gothic tone. Being that diamonds are made from carbon, this is a natural inclusion found in diamonds although cutters tend to minimize the deposit visibility. In this case, they opted to retain the chunky facets of these old cut stones and sacrifice purity of the stone. The centre stone is a bit darker than the 4 sides overall.
Diamonds are graduated in size with the centre stone being slightly larger at approx 3.4mm. The two diamonds on either side measure approx 3.1 and 3.2mm. The outside diamonds are the smallest measuring in at approx 2.6-2.7mm. Total carat weight is 0.65 points. Diamond clarity is VS - I-1 and F-G - M-N.
Total weight of the ring is 3.22g. Currently a size 9 but sizable by a jeweler as the band is plain and decent sized.
A gemmological appraisal is included with an estimated value of $3,100CAD
This ring has loads of history and character that really do make it a great find, it just isn’t perfect for everyone due to the less-than-ideal clarity of these stones.
