Antique Large Sterling Silver Victorian Paste Stone Buckle Brooch
Absolutely stunning sterling silver buckle brooch from the 1800s (Victorian). This piece has a long, sturdy brooch pin back complete with original c-clasp and tube hinge. There are two sections opposite that look like they once had a tube across which would likely have been used for a belt or scarf. This tube has been removed and the piece is now just a brooch.
This is a heavy piece with great detail on the front and 118 paste stones in graduating sizes. Stones are almost all clear with rainbow flashes in the light. A couple smaller stones are starting to yellow but not very noticeable yet. Edges are a pinched collet style on the outside.
Era: Antique - 1800s - Victorian
Markings: Marked 925 silver and an unknown mark, possibly for origin.
Stone: Paste stones (not diamonds)
These range in size from approx 2.3 to 7.05mm in diameter.
There are 118 paste stones in total.
Metal: Sterling silver. Uncleaned and showing age with patina.
Size: Buckle brooch measures 2.46 x 1.82 inches. Total weight is 41.88g.
Condition: Very old brooch with some slight wear and lots of original patina. Would need to be kept dry as the stones are closed back.
This item is used/antique so it has been previously loved. As such, it will show the normal signs of wear in the form of scuffs to the surface or wearing of details. Any obvious issues will be expressly detailed but none of our jewellery will be in perfect showroom condition due to it being vintage of antique.
