Amazingly detailed, rare and incredibly unique 12k mourning swivel fob or pendant, with swag detailing encompassing the entire piece. Mourning jewelry was in high fashion in the Victorian era with both men and women wearing it in different forms (including hair mementos). There was also sentimental jewelry that used hair for a loved one that hadn't passed - to remember them while they were away.
The fob adorns the neck perfectly on a chain or even a ribbon. It lays comfortably against the skin and works well as a distraction or antique version of a fidget spinner.
1.85 x 1.12 inches in total size (including bail). It is noticeably weighty at 12.56 grams total weight. Professionally acid tested at 10k+ and xray tested at 12k gold content.
Condition notes: There is a very noticeable crack through the glass cover on the fabric side of the swivel fob. In addition, the gold detailing around this portion has also been damaged. Likely it was dropped at some point or hit against something which has cost it some of the beautiful art and part of the frame. This damage, however, is only to one side and does not impact the functionality of the piece. Wearing it with the carnelian side out would be preferable to most.
